This was my fourth time seeing Kiefer, who always picks very good opening acts. This tour's slot went to Colin Andrew, a young singer-songwriter from the west coat of Ireland. He had some good songs of his own (though someone really needs to tell him that Handbags is NOT a Stereophonics song!), but had to compete with a typically rude Tramshed crowd who yakked throughout his set and ignored his subtle requests to shut up. Background levels of inane chatter and idiotic woo-wooers continued throughout Kiefer's set too. Kiefer's set was heavy on new album, 'Grey', but with a good selection of his previous three albums as well, along with some interesting covers. He didn't pull out his trusty Hummingbird and Atkin on this occasion, preferring to stick to his Fender tele. His band were very tight too - Chris Hillman deserves extra praise for some tasty guitar and lap steel work.

Crowd interference is unfortunately quite prevalent on the recording: I have done what I can with some of the imbecilic woo-wooing and inappropriate loud clapping, but it is what it is. It's still listenable and given he had to cancel his US tour due to low ticket sales, at least this gives the real music fans something to hear. Just remind me for his next tour to travel further afield to catch a show where the audience actually respects the performer and those standing around who have come to listen.
