�@This year marks the 55th anniversary of ZEP�fs first visit to Japan, and the value of the original vinyl *LIVE IN JAPAN 1971*�\which was the first to introduce us to their legendary performances that remain as vibrant as ever�\has not faded in the slightest. Even though officially recorded multitrack versions are now available, there are still many parts that can only be heard on this recording. It�fs no exaggeration to say that this unique recording�\which one might practically call a �gbootleg soundboard recording�h�\has now been elevated to the status of a historical artifact.

�@The sound quality of this legendary release is truly superb; in fact, it�fs astonishing that for so long, no CD release could surpass the sound quality of this original vinyl. While the full-length version of the original tape has since become widely available, the original vinyl�\which captures the fresh sound of the 1971 recording�\possesses an undeniable persuasiveness and exceptional listenability.

�@Given that this is such a historic masterpiece, it�fs no wonder that CDs transferred from the vinyl enjoyed such high popularity, as they allowed listeners to easily enjoy its superb sound quality. In fact, ten years ago, CDs transferred from the original vinyl were released twice, and both became massive bestsellers.
�@However, the truth is that the releases from 10 years ago were all based on online sources from overseas, or had pitch issues that weren�ft fully corrected, or were even mastered with the sound pressure slightly boosted�\in short, they were released with some rough edges still present. Looking back now, it�fs no exaggeration to say that we failed to fully harness the potential of those OG Records, which boasted exceptional freshness.

�@So this time, we�fve taken the original first-pressings released on the red label and transferred them with the utmost care�\though that goes without saying. While both releases from 10 years ago were played back on standard turntables, this time we�fve used a laser turntable. This transfer was achieved through playback that�fs on an entirely different level�\ultra-clear�\compared to conventional methods. At this point alone, it�fs in a completely different league from the releases from 10 years ago.

�@Even without that, this is an analog vinyl bootleg from over half a century ago. When played on a standard turntable, scratch noise caused by contact between the record surface and the needle is simply unavoidable. However, this time we used a laser turntable for contactless playback. As a result, even in situations where scratch noise would normally have required removal during post-processing, we were able to bring out the vivid sound unique to the original pressing while minimizing any sound quality changes or unnaturalness associated with such processing.
�@Then, using this material�\transferred in impeccable condition�\as a basis, �gGRAF ZEPPELIN�h undertook further adjustments. When it comes to the first-press red-label edition of *LIVE IN JAPAN 1971*, the most striking feature is, without a doubt, its terrifyingly slow pitch. Even Bonzo�fs voice at the start of �gImmigrant Song�h is a disaster. This first-pressing red-label edition was released to the public with a problem so severe that, if it were released today, it would likely have been pulled from the market or subject to a disc replacement program.

Accurately adjusting that pitch was a piece of cake for �gGRAF ZEPPELIN.�h They�fve also, as expected, corrected �gTangerine,�h which suffered from even more severe pitch issues. Not only that, but they�fve thoroughly fine-tuned the volume and balance without compromising the vinyl original sound quality or freshness. By maximizing the original freshness of the OG record�\extracted using a laser turntable�\they�fve created a rare vinyl reissue CD of such high quality that it puts a release from 10 years ago to shame.
�@While it is certainly a rare and legendary item, the red-label first pressing was one that left many people fed up with its excessively low pitch�\so much so that even those who owned the Record likely never felt like playing it. This time, however, the issues have been thoroughly re-examined, and the result is not merely a CD version that makes it easy to listen to. It is a reissue that faithfully captures, as closely as possible in a modern setting, the astonishing freshness that was etched into this vinyl back in 1971.

�@Above all, this definitive edition finally captures on CD�\in impeccable condition�\the historic masterpiece that can be considered the origin of the countless �g929�h releases that have followed to this day. This year marks the 55th anniversary of ZEP�fs first visit to Japan and the 55th anniversary of September 29�\the day that cemented their popularity in Japan�\making this release a true �gBACK TO THE BEGINNING�h!

��A long-lost vintage record is back in the latest version, transferred from a laser turntable!

Previous analog transfers include the 2015 release (volume too low, �gTangerine�h track at a low pitch), the 2016 release (wavy waveform, left-right imbalance), and the gift edition (gurgling noise from noise reduction), but in terms of waveform clarity, natural sound, and volume balance, this latest release�\which doesn�ft even have a wavy waveform�\is undoubtedly the best!
