LDB Vintage Series #091

Hi there! After closing both my Master and Special series I took a break from seeding, enjoying life and most of all
preparing for a new series! This is not going to be as frequent as my previous ones, I'll be seeding shows from time
to time so don't expect massive volumes here.

Why a "vintage" series? Because music in the 70's and 80's was really something...so different, so special with "that" kind
of sound which you don't find anymore. That was the era of real music without the internet, of long tours and enjoyable live
shows spanning from metal to new wave, progressive, jazz, fusion, pop. So many bands were born and disappeared during those
two decades.

I am then celebrating the 70's and the 80's and their unmistakable sound in this LDB Vintage Series. You will find many bands
I have never seeded in the past but that I still enjoy listening to. Most of these come from low generation tapes that were traded
around that period, many radio broadcasts and overall lots of surprises.

A nice MO soundboard show from 1973 has appeared for sharing, which prompted me to look in the vaults if there was something out of interest for McLaughlin fans. Can't really tell much on how I came across this one but it is a series of lucky (and unlucky) coincidences where I could transfer the content of this tape. I was able to do it only in a rush (kind of "transfer it now or never") so all I could do is to plug a r-09 onto the Teac player and run the recorder.

Despite this, the recording is astonishing. Sound quality is stellar, instruments well balanced and...Meeting of the Spirits is not saturated as most of the soundboard recordings that circulate from the band.

This is NOT the radio broadcast but a tape from the radio station. There is a AM excerpt that circulates but honestly I have no idea if the whole show was recorded. But I do know that the day after (June 14th) MO played in Paris at the Bataclan and the entire performance was filmed for Pop2. It is well locked in INA's vaults for the time being but it has not been digitized yet. But this show at Olympia has NOT been filmed despite I read some misleading infos.

I did not alter the sound of this capture, except fading out at the end of Miles Beyond where the original tape ends abruptly.
