Notes
The recording is from the Tommy Stevenson collection. Special thanks to his son, Thomas, for locating the surviving masters and loaning them out for transfer. Transferred by Richard Russell, August 2026.
No noise reduction was applied to this recording.
This recording was spread over two tapes. The first included the end of Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey's set at Jazzfest earlier in the day, and the second tape included the beginning of headliner Koko Taylor's set.
The photo included with these files was taken by the taper during the performance. It was used as cover art inside one of the cassette cases.
There were brief cuts at 3:20 of Mardi Gras In New Orleans (tape flip), 1:53 of I'd Rather Go Blind (tape change) and during the encore break to shorten.
Marcia Ball - piano
David Murray - guitar
Don Bennett - bass
Doyle Bramhall - drums
