Going down for day 2 of the festival I had a much better idea of what to expect and was
better prepared. I timed the arrival to right when doors opened and quickly got myself
sorted. The two artists I had on my schedule were the Marcus Miller's Miles Davis set
and to finally see Bill Frissell. The band I went to see to start the day was Incognito.
I enjoyed the set and they drew a big crowd especially for the first act of the day. The
second band I was going to see started back to back so I left 2 songs early. The artist
was Joy Crookes, a British singer of Bangladeshi descent. I should have stayed for the
full set of Incognito. This was not my favorite set but I was amused watching the camera
guy try to keep her in the shot as she walked around the stage. Next set was Marcus
Miller's Miles Davis set. It was crowded and everyone knew this was going to be a good
set. His band was comprised of a couple guys who played with him and Miles and a couple
younger guys. The music was spot on and the vibe was there. By the end of the set my
legs and feet were starting to hurt. I have pretty much worn out the shoes I wore on the
trip. The set ended and I hobbled out to try and find the Madeira Stage. After I while
I make it to the third floor and walk into a room with seats. I grabbed a seat in the
sixth row dead center and waited 40 minutes until the music started. The set started
and the band just played on for an hour. I think there were two short breaks so the
tracking is just a guess. The music ends and I quickly get moving to the metro station.
I make it just in time which then meant I got to Rotterdam Centraal and just made the
non stop train to Schiphol. I had a 19 minute wait for the two stops to my station but
still made to home by 11:45. I copied files then passed out.
