The Davis Septet was booked for six nights at Just Jazz, May 12-17 (Monday-Friday), two sets per night (9pm and 11pm). I don't know which night or set this music is from.

"Untitled original 750505" was first performed in the studio on May 5. It was a standard set closer during May-July 1975. Davis occasionally plays organ during this tune.

Davis' re-formed Septet resumed touring after he recovered from throat surgery in April, but his health continued to deteriorate: Paul's Mall, Boston (April 28-May 3); Just Jazz, Philadelphia (May 12-17); Memorial Hall, Dayton OH (May 23); Oakland University, Rochester MI (May 24); Bottom Line Club, New York (June 10-12); Avery Fisher Hall, New York (July 1); Central Park, New York (September 5). An October date at Keystone Korner in San Francisco was canceled, and Davis underwent hip replacement surgery in December.

I am grateful to Len Pogost and Michael Vicari for help with this session.
