Notes:
The Pat Metheny Group played 4 dates in Kiev in 1987. It is unknown from which concert these tracks are sourced; however, while quite incomplete, what's here is most greatly appreciated and sounds surprisingly fantastic, even through the noisy tape stock upon which it was preserved.

The order of the tracks as presented in the original set didn't match the text. I have a feeling something was mistaken in that presentation, so I've taken the liberty of reordering the tracks to reflect the set list into what seemed more likely to have been the order in which they were played, judging by known set lists from other dates in Europe which followed this one. Or it is also quite possible that the taper personally curated these particular tunes in the order of this choosing, copied them to another tape in that new order, and traded that with whom I believe to be the original seeder of this source, StPatrick; (to whom we owe many thanks over many years.) It's also possible that there were more hands on this before it reached StPatrick for his post, but that can't be known at this time and if so, we thank any and all others involved.

I guess the point is that it's here now and it's never sounded better since the day of these performances...

As to the audio quality -
For whatever unknown reason, some of this goes to mono and back to stereo several times. I've aligned the channels wherever I found those instances to have occurred; the change will be more detectable at those spots in headphones.
Azimuth and Phase have also been adjusted to improve the sound. The speed/pitch of the source was fast, averaging between approximately 56 and 71 cents sharp, and it has all been brought back into proper tuning and speed.
While I've made an effort to clean up sudden pops and clicks, this is still a very noisy recording, largely evident in the quieter parts. A creaky seat takes center stage in those parts, especially evident when listening in headphones. Choppy audio here and there still remains - that's something that can't be repaired; rather, tolerated... Still - in the end, this is a championship effort on the part of the taper and we're supremely fortunate to have even this partial concert archive to enjoy.
