Rev. Horton Heat put on a great, outdoor show at a Harley-Davidson dealership in Sanford. This was a slightly odd event because for some time the concert had been scheduled at a completely different venue in Sanford. However, that venue shut down, and about a month or so before the scheduled concert date the venue was changed to the Harley-Davidson dealership. I have seen the Rev. a number of times over the years, and the turnout for this concert was a bit smaller than I would have expected. Maybe the last minute venue change had something to do with it. The forecast also was calling for rain during showtime, which also could have factored into things (we didn't get a drop of rain). The Rev. is a great showman and was just as animated as I can remember him being in previous shows I've seen. One strange moment of the night came when bugs were annoying the Rev. and he kind of had to stop "Three Days" short because he said the bugs were getting in his mouth and ears. He said he'd play a faster number to hopefully drive the bugs away. At another point someone in the crowd started passing a lifesized skeleton over their heads to other folks in the crowd almost as if the skeleton was crowdsurfing. Really good show overall!
Two other bands, The Surfrajettes and The Busted Sprockets, opened. I recorded The Surfrajettes' set but not The Busted Sprockets. Will get to working on The Surfrajettes set at a later date.
