A perfect FOB recording. This transfer is 16/48 from the master DAT, clearly marked on the tape shell, with the Nak 300 lineage noted above.

A version of this recording marked as a SBD circulates via Bill Koucky in 2006 with the following lineage: Soundboard DAT x ? Transfer: Casio DA-7 > Tascam CD-RW 700 (pass through -2 db) > Audiophile 2496 @ 24/44.1 KHz WAV using Wavelab 5 > mastered to 16/44.1 KHz WAV (Waves L3) > CDWAV 1.9 > FLAC. Comparing the audio and the waveform, they are the same recording, except that both channels are inverted on Bill's transfer, which was transfered 24 bits and then downsampled to 16/44 by the CD-RW 700.

It's easy to understand why this recording would be marked as a SBD, and it's plausible that the crowd audible during the banter, etc., was picked up by the stage mics. But if the John's DAT is to be credited, it's not a SBD.

This was the Seldom Scene's first performance at Rockygrass.

Enjoy!
