This release contains a splendid and never before heard Japan performance by Sonny Rollins in a quintet featuring Paul Bley and, on one track, backed by a Japanese combo. Betty Carter sings two outstanding songs with the rhythm section. As a bonus, we present a rare 1956 broadcast by Rollins with the first incarnation of the Max Roach Quintet after Clifford Brown's tragic death.
