Notes:
Soul Asylum were tapped to headline this year's Kemba Credit Union All
American Bash in West Chester Township. The weather was near perfect,
maybe at tad warm in the high 80s by 9pm showtime and this was free
admission! I do appreciate them going on at 9 and not earlier, as it
was in the mid 90s all day! The recording went well, crowd was very
respectful around me and the sound was nearly perfect! You will hear
some phasing as I had people behind me walking through the crowd often
and I had to get out of their way to get in/out of the front pit area.
This was the 5th time Ive taped SA and I truly believe they have gotten
better the past couple of years. I saw them in 2020 and was pretty bored
during their set, it honestly felt like there was no energy. Seeing them
open for STP in 2024 something had changed. Maybe the drummer? I dont
know, but they sound fantastic now. Maybe that February 2020 show was
just an off night. I also really loved the 8 newer tracks performed from
"Slowly But Shirley" - I better pick that record up! "Bus Named Desire"
is now a new fave I wasn't familiar with before. Be sure to crank this!
