We return to our series of recordings from SoCal-based taper Rick L who was active in the early '80s. While he was a fan of bands like Yes and taped them on more than one occasion, his tastes were eclectic and of-the-moment, ranging from new wave artists featured on KROQ-FM to reggae and jazz acts. So while he didn't have Millard-caliber equipment, he did cover many shows not recorded by Millard or others who leaned towards the classic rock end of the spectrum. We'll be presenting the best of his work and his collection.

Vol. Seven captures UK reggae legends Steel Pulse at The Roxy in West Hollywood. The group released their fourth album True Democracy early in 1982 and the setlist includes "Chant a Psalm," "Ravers" and "Blues Dance Raid," plus a generous dip into the three previous albums across an 84-minute set.

This is a very listenable mono recording that captures the spirit of the evening beautifully and is one of the nicest overall tapes we've pulled from the Rick L collection so far. Samples provided.
