::: VG+ somewhat distant but clear stereo AUD w/some hiccups. Check samples for over&out, out or in, out&out HOWLING!
::: Warts (Yes, but not too bad after remastering, just a little rocky at times): Repaired MANY dullspots & dropouts but damn sure missed more than a few. Occasional short bits of AUD talk. #02 2?secs missing in first 30secs (clean splice). #06 x2 micro tape lags near end. #10 cuts right at end. #12 cuts near end&last 7mins took a full day to fix (had horrible dropout issues).

::: Probably not entire set (has 1st part-just missing encores?). Order seems to make sense intro Kay says they'll play something new before"last selection".
::: Maybe all that was taped by this source. Anyone have more? Surely they did 2-3 of these: The Pusher/Born to Be Wild/Magic Carpet Ride (all encores?).
::: Johnny Winter opened for Steppenwolf. 8pm showtime. Tix $4/5/6. Winter set also circulates.
::: Kay mentions their Randalls Island festival appearance the day before.
::: "Live"2LP set recorded 1970-01-22 Santa Monica&released April'70, so was their current album.
::: 3 songs on"Live"album were studio songs with fake applause released against the band's wishes.
::: "Steppenwolf 7"probably about to be recorded. It was released Nov'70. NO songs appear here.
:: #06/08/12 here are live versions of songs from "Monster" probably recorded summer'69&issued Nov'69.
::: Nick St. Nicholas fired&Biondo joined April'70. Wikipedia says Nick, "supposedly appeared in nothing but rabbit ears&a jock strap at the Fillmore East in April '70&his habit of wearing muumuus&kaftans on stage began to wear on Kay"(who was more into leather).

DimeTravel 819 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! Sincere thanks to whomever uploads this for me. ::: Corrections welcome ::: EXTREMELY interesting guitar playing in a number of places here. Yet another major band for whom we have rather a stunning LACK of early live recordings overall. No question there are more out there. This has issues but is pretty enjoyable & well worth a listen, or two, or. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
