Tapers Notes:
C.S. Productions Master Recording - (Unofficial Release)
This recording was made during my earlier years of taping. I was using a minidisc recorder at the time and was not familiar enough with it yet which resulted in a couple minor cuts. The show starts out with a brief cut because I believe I had the pause set on record and forgot to hit the button when the show started. There is a second minor cut due to the disc change which was just before "Take The Money And Run". This is common on minidisc recordings and one of the reasons why I moved away from them. In hindsight, I think this could of been done better but given that I was still new at this, I was still finding my way as a full on stealth taper.
I wasn’t a big fan of Steve Miller to be honest and don’t really recall much of this show. As a result, this recording has sat untouched since it was taped. Originally I was there to see and tape George Thorogood who opened up for Steve Miller. That recording was circulated sometime later as I started trading more. But this was one of those recordings I did not care much about. Overall the sound is OK and this was before they revamped Blossom Music Center so to me, I just hate this venue for its sound. Not much comes out that great here in my opinion and this recording is somewhat hollow and distant. My seats were OK but again, this venue does nothing to help your location. There is some phasing due to movement. This was probably due to the mic placement in my glasses which I eventually changed to a collared shirt. The levels were low in places so I brought them up a bit so it is more tolerable but I would not give this much more than a VG+/EX- rating. The crowd around me was generally alright so I think this is worth a listen, especially if you went to the show.
In any case, this one is for any of those serious Steve Miller collectors. Included is a scan of the actual ticket stub. Enjoy.
