In September 1984 I was in Wiesbaden Germany on a business trip and I kept
seeing these posters around town for a Stevie Wonder concert in Franfurt. I
decided I should go because I might not get another chance. It turned out to be
a good decision since I never again had the opportunity to see him play. Well,
the concert was held in a large boomy hall, with all floor seating. It turned
out to be a monumentally good show, seemingly endless with hit after hit played
continously with no break in between. I had no idea that he was capable of
playing so many hits live for so long. Luckily I had a portable cassette
recorder with a brand new stereo mic to test out.

The sound isn't exactly pristine, since the equipment was cheap and the hall
boomy and the seating about halfway back in the hall. But the performance was
stellar and the tape is a master so there's no hiss, no audience chatter, and no
glitches. Plus it's 20 years old and from an under-represented period of
Stevie's career. You just don't see uncirculated Stevie Wonder tapes show up
anymore so here's your chance to be first on your block to get this one. The
setlist alone is pretty stunning, I think.
