It seems this set has never made it onto any of the myriad of semi legit and legit Stooges records that have emerged over the last 40 years, with the exception of the last track ‘She Creatures of the Hollywood Hills’, which was released on the 1997 Bomp album ‘California Bleeding’.

The cassette tape I had lived in a box for 30 years until it was rediscovered and digitised few years ago. The tape came with the date 18/9/73 on it but apparently they only played at the Whisky 15th - 17th Sept, and then later on October 17th - 21st, according to https://www.chickenonaunicycle.com/Whisky-A-Go-Go%201971-1975.htm

After consulting on information provided by Stooges researchers the date for this show seems most likely to come from the Whisky A Go Go between June 20th - 24th, 1973 when Iggy and the Stooges played a run of four nights with the group Rufus (Singer - Chaka Khan) in support.

This recording is a bit rough and ready and still has some defects in it but it has its charms. It was digitised flat with azimuth alignment. No eq or compression has been added, and no noise reduction has been applied.

It needed some work, as amongst other things, the tape was running ~ 8% fast in the first instance. The levels on both channels were noticeably different so the left channel was boosted to mirror the levels of the right. Apparently a review exists from this run of shows written by Richard Cromelin in the Los Angeles Times, 23 June 1973.

Enjoy!
