Third of three sold-out nights at New York's Webster Hall to kick off Sugar's first tour in 31 years, featuring a mix of songs from throughout their three-album-and-one-EP catalog, plus both sides of their new single. This night was extra special because it featured three guest vocalists on the encore: Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers, Craig Finn of the Hold Steady, and Jason Narducy of Split Single, Superchunk, and Bob Mould's own touring band — Narducy later revealed that he pointed to Mould to get him to take the second verse of "If I Can't Change Your Mind" because, though he'd sung on the chorus hundreds of times, he'd never bothered to memorize the verses.
The sound from the floor of Webster Hall has never been great, so the fidelity on this isn't quite up to the standards set by Loughney for his excellent recordings of the first two nights. Still, with cardioid mics and some post-production stem splitting and EQ, it's a decent capture of what it sounded like in the room that night. Enjoy!
