A Japanese bootleg titled 'Osaka, Club Quattro 1991', that I got in a cd-r trade long ago. It ran both slow and with very low volume, with tracks needing splitting and restructuring, so I gave these repairs my best shot using Audacity. (pitch and speed were done by ear. I don't know how to another way, so if discrepancies are found, please let me know.) For now this sounds far better than what I had, originally thinking this might be too problematic to fix. The Spectral reading shows a solid 22hz, so it's not from a lossy source. It's a worthwhile soundboard, with little problems***.

Tight performance by this 2nd Wind band, in good form as they segue into subsequent songs on a dime! [where indicated by the ">".]

***NOTE ADDED BY JSWETCH-FNORD SENT THIS OVER TO SEE WHAT I THOUGHT OF SOME WORK HE'D DONE IN AUDACITY. THAT SEEMED TO BE FINE, BUT I SENT HIM SOME ADDITIONAL WORK I DID ON 2 TRACKS. HE LIKED THAT, AND SUGGESTED I APPLY THE SAME TOOLS TO THE WHOLE SHOW AS IT COMES INTO CIRCULATION. THIS WAS BASICALLY TO ADD SOME CLARITY AND DEPTH TO WHAT HAD BEEN A FAIRLY MUFFLED AND DISTANT SOUNDING BOOT. THAT WOUND UP LEADING TO A LITTLE WHILE SENDING SOUND FILES BACK AND FORTH, AND THE CREATION OF 3 DIFFERENT TAKES ON THIS WHOLE SHOW. IN A NOD TO THE GOLDILOCKS STORY, THIS VERSION NOW BEING SHARE IS JUST ABOUT AS "RIGHT" AS WE'RE LIKELY TO GET IT. WE'RE STILL LEFT WITH HISS, WHICH WILL BE MOST APPARENT IN QUIETER SPOTS, BUT IT IS IMPROVED. FWIW,PITCH/SPEED WAS CHECKED, AND FNORD'S EAR HAD GOTTEN IT ALL CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ROCK N ROLL.
THE INTRO, LOVE SCIENCE, AND REAL MAN WERE ALL A BIT HOTTER RECORDINGS THAN THE REST OF THE MATERIAL, WHILE JOHNEE JINGO AND MIGHTY LOVE EACH WERE AT PARTICULARLY LOW VOLUME LEVELS. JWETCH HAD SUSPICIONS THAT JOHNEE JINGO AND MIGHTY LOVE MIGHT'VE BEEN ADDED IN FROM ANOTHER SHOW (A CAPPELLA TOUR, PERHAPS), BUT FNORD IS HAPPY TO BELIEVE THEY WERE IN FACT DONE IN OSAKA WITH THE REST OF THIS MATERIAL. THOSE SONGS ARE BEING SINGLED OUT BECAUSE A CLOSE LISTEN MAY STILL LEAD THEM TO HAVE A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT CHARACTER FROM THE OTHER MATERIAL.
GIVEN THE RAW MATERIAL OF FNORD'S BOOT OF THIS SHOW, SOME BIG IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE.THE TR CONNECTION TODD BOOT PAGE HAD ALREADY CLASSED THAT RAW MATERIAL AS FOLLOWS: "Most excellent board quality 2nd Wind show. And this here, is WAY so rare. It came out in Japan (1998)on silver discs under the title 'Quattro 1991'." THAT SITE HAD ALSO MENTIONED THERE BEING A SHORTER mp3 VERSION OF THIS WHICH CUT OFF AFTER 2nd WIND. IF THAT TR CONNECTION INFO IS CONSIDERED, FNORD HAS DONE THE TODD FANS HERE A BIG SERVICE BY GETTING THIS ONE CIRCULATING HERE.
HE'S ALSO DEDICATING THIS TO THE MEMORY OF THE VERY FINE GUITARIST, JESSE GRESS, WHO WORKED FOR MANY YEARS WITH TODD. THE 2ND WIND SHOWS REPRESENTED THE START OF THAT LONG ASSOCIATION WHICH ENDED AT JESSE'S PASSING IN 2023. rip JESSE.***
