Comments:

Final date of their 2009 North American tour, playing to a half-empty room. It was weird being there for both nights, since the second show was perhaps half-sold. (The sides of the balcony were almost empty, the back of the balcony was cordoned off, and there were many empty seats in the mezzanine.) Weirdly enough, despite being very undersold, I thought this was by far the best night of the two -- better performance and much better setlist. It helped having a heavy dose of "A.M." material throughout the set, and "Casino Queen" to close the show absolutely blistered.

I was located next to the stage in a section that hadn't been sold to the public, but security was making no effort to keep people out of, either. At the beginning of the show, I was one of about four people in the section; by the end, it was completely full -- no empty seats. Just before track #6, I moved from the fourth into the second row and was on a direct line to the overhead PA -- you'll notice that the clarity improves (particularly on the high end) from this track to the end. Dynamics and balance are real good on this recording, I think. Even though this was a stealth recording, there is very little crowd noise to distract from one's enjoyment until near the end of the show, when a Woo Woo Girl moved in next to me -- she only screamed over the music once, though she's present between a couple of the tracks.

I'm really happy with the way this one came out. Since I didn't see any stands at all Monday night, there may not be many sources to choose from for this one.

Mp3 samples are attached.
