Here's a 20th anniversary share of an Oregon show that might excite a few fans of the group. First of all, this is the first time it's being widely shared, and, secondly, it's a capture of a show in which the group shares the stage for part of the evening with the Buffalo Symphony Orchestra. This was recorded by a DIME'r who has directly and indirectly (via his generosity as a trader) brought many shows to the DIME community. That would be Waterwheel (Christoph), and the particularly noteworthy thing in this case is that he lives in Germany, but traveled to the USA (and Buffalo) to attend and record this show. Huge thanks to him for his efforts, and in making this available to me in a recent file swap that we did. His recording info is above in the lineage.
Christoph had the show tracked for 2 cd's divided by sets, and it's been retracked in Audacity into the form in which it's now being shared. EQ and Mastering tools in Audacity were employed to add a bit of depth and bottom to the DAT audio that emerged from a presumably large venue. Whatever reverb appears seems to have come from the venue itself. I'm mentioning that because it is noticeable particularly in the stage announcements. Audacity was also used to reign in the levels of some nearby loud applause throughout the show, and to trim the lengthier applause at the end of the first set and prior to the encore (Green and Golden). Some nearby audience noise is still picked up occasionally between songs, but it's not very intrusive, and tended to have been minimized along with the applause.
The sets of music are structured so that the entire first set is played with Oregon and the Orchestra, while the 2nd set is Oregon alone. A guest pianist joined the group on Spanish Stairs because "Ralph doesn't have 4 hands". Many thanks again to Waterwheel for his generosity, and enthusiasm for Oregon (along with his traveling spirit in the Fall of 2004). Thanks too to his friend Lauramareike (Dieter) for the artwork which is included with this share (and also for providing the surname of the guest pianist on Spanish Stairs, which I couldn't pick out). This is the 2nd of 5 planned shares of Oregon October anniversary shows spanning the dates 1980-2010. If you like this group and their music, keep an eye out for the next installments in this Oregon October mini-flood.
